Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Short version: count.live doesn't collect, store, or sell any personal data itself, and there are no accounts. The countdowns you share and embed never show ads and never use cookies or trackers. The builder page (where you create a countdown) on the website may show ads to help cover server costs — see Advertising. The details you type into a countdown are never shared with advertisers. This policy covers the count.live website and the count.live apps for iOS and Android. Privacy-preserving analytics are provided by Cloudflare — no individual user data is exposed.

No Sign-up Required

You can create, customize, and share countdowns without creating an account or providing any personal information.

Data We Collect

We do not collect or store any personal data ourselves. All countdown configuration and calculations happen in your browser or on your device.

Cookies & Local Storage

Countdown pages, shared links, and embeds do not use cookies. We don't set any cookies ourselves anywhere on the site.

Your browser's local storage is used only to remember your theme preference (light/dark mode), your recent countdown history, how many times you've opened the builder (so we don't show the app suggestion too often), and whether your browser is in the group that sees the builder ad (see Analytics). None of this is stored anywhere but your device.

On the builder page only, our advertising partner may set cookies or use similar technologies to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it, this happens only with your consent. See Advertising.

Analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page views and performance. Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookie-free and privacy-preserving — it collects only aggregated metrics (visit counts, page views, load times) and does not track individual users, build behavioral profiles, or share data with advertisers.

To check that ads don't make the builder worse, about half of browsers don't see the builder ad. The builder counts a few actions (opening the builder, copying a link, using the Canva or embed options, and tapping the support button) along with which of the two groups the browser is in. These counts are stored in our own Cloudflare account and contain no IP addresses, device details, identifiers, or countdown details.

While the Android app is in beta, we also count clicks on the Android beta buttons and visits to the beta page, noting only whether the browser is on Android, an iPhone or iPad, or a computer. These counts are stored the same way, with nothing that identifies you.

We do not use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics service. The only third-party tracking on the site is the advertising on the builder page, described below. The apps use Sentry solely for crash reporting — if the app crashes, an anonymised error report (stack trace, device model, operating system version) is sent to Sentry. No personal data, no user identifiers, and no countdown content is included in these reports.

Advertising

To help cover server costs, the builder page on the count.live website (where you create or edit a countdown) may show ads served by Google AdSense. Ads are never shown on countdown pages, shared links, or embedded countdowns, and those pages never load advertising code.

When the builder page shows ads, Google and its partners may receive your IP address, browser and device information, and the fact that you visited count.live. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to count.live and/or other sites. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

The countdown details you enter (titles, dates, messages, and images) are not shared with advertisers.

Your choices:

The apps do not currently show ads. If that changes, we will update this policy and the apps' App Store and Google Play privacy details before it happens.

Cloudflare Hosting

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare may collect standard infrastructure logs (IP addresses, browser type, request metadata) as part of operating their network. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details.

Mobile Apps

The count.live apps store your saved countdowns locally on your device using the system's standard app storage (UserDefaults and a shared app group on iOS, SharedPreferences on Android). This data is not transmitted to any server. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device and are never sent to our servers.

If you use a background image URL for a countdown, the app downloads and caches that image locally on your device (in the app's private storage area) so it can be displayed in home screen widgets. The image is fetched directly from the URL you provide; we do not proxy or store it on our servers.

Other than anonymised crash reports (see above), the app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.

URL Sharing

When you share a countdown URL, the event configuration (date, title, colors, etc.) is encoded in the URL itself. Be mindful of any personal information you include in countdown titles or subtitles if sharing publicly.

Background Images

If you enter a background image URL, that image is fetched directly by your browser or device from the URL you provide. We do not proxy, cache, or process those images on our servers.

Children's Privacy

count.live does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Countdown pages, shared links, and embeds, including those used in classrooms, contain no ads, cookies, or trackers. Any ads on the builder page are meant for a general audience, and the builder is intended for users 13 and older.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
