Who makes it

count.live is built and maintained by an independent developer. It started in January 2026 as a small tool for sharing a countdown with friends, and it now powers countdowns embedded in Canva presentations, school learning platforms, Notion pages and websites around the world. Questions, ideas and bug reports go straight to dev@count.live.

How it works

Every countdown is described entirely by its link: the date, time zone, title, colors and options are part of the URL. There are no accounts and no database of countdowns. That’s why links work forever, why anyone with the link can view a countdown, and why we don’t store anything about what you count down to.

There’s also a free count.live app for iPhone with home-screen widgets and notifications when a countdown reaches zero.

Principles

  • Free and no sign-up. Make as many countdowns as you like.
  • Shared and embedded countdowns are always ad-free and don’t use cookies or trackers.
  • Privacy first. We don’t collect personal data; see the privacy policy.
  • Accurate time. Countdowns respect time zones and daylight saving time, and calendar math uses real month and year lengths.

How it’s funded

count.live is a one-person project. Tips through the “Help cover the server costs” button go toward hosting, and in the future a single ad may appear on the page where you build a countdown. Countdowns you share or embed will never show ads.
