Thanksgiving Countdown

When is Thanksgiving?

In the United States, Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November, which federal law has set since 1942. Because it follows a weekday rule rather than a fixed date, it can land anywhere from November 22 to November 28. This countdown works out the right Thursday for you every year, so you never have to update it.

Canadian Thanksgiving is the second Monday of October. To count down to it, choose Customize this countdown and pick the Canadian date from the table.

Make your Thanksgiving countdown

The countdown above runs to midnight at the start of Thanksgiving Day. For a countdown to dinner, the parade, or the moment family arrives, open it in the builder and set the time: “Turkey’s ready in…” at 3:00 p.m. works just as well. You can rename it, pick autumn colors, and share your own link with everyone who’s coming.

Because Thanksgiving’s date changes every year, links you copy count down to this year’s Thanksgiving only. Come back to this page next year for a fresh one; the countdown here always shows the next Thanksgiving.

Ways to use it

• Family group chats: share the link so everyone knows how long until the gathering.
• Classrooms: count down to the Thanksgiving break in your Canva slides.
• Stores and restaurants: embed a countdown to your holiday hours or pre-order deadline on your website.

Step-by-step guides: Canva, Notion, OBS, or your own website.
