Step by step

  1. Create your countdown and click Copy link (or Use in Notion under More actions).
  2. In Notion, paste the link on your page, or type /embed and paste it into the embed block.
  3. When Notion asks how to show the link, choose Create embed.
  4. Drag the block’s edges to resize it. The countdown adapts to any size.

Make it match your Notion theme

In the builder, set the background and text colors to match your workspace. For Notion’s light theme, white works well as the background with dark gray text (37352f); for dark mode, use a dark gray background with light text. Fewer units, such as just days, also look cleaner in a narrow column.

Ideas for Notion countdowns

  • Project dashboards: count down to a launch, a sprint deadline or a client delivery.
  • Study planners: track the time left until exams or application deadlines.
  • Trip and event pages: a live countdown to the flight, the wedding or the conference.
  • Recurring routines: set a countdown to repeat daily, weekly or monthly, for example to a weekly review or the next payday.

Public pages and sharing

The countdown works on private pages, shared pages and pages published to the web. Everyone who opens the page counts down to the same moment, wherever they are. It also works in other tools that embed links, such as Canva or your own website.

Frequently asked questions

Does Notion have a countdown block?

No. Notion can show dates and reminders, but not a live, ticking countdown. Embedding a count.live link with the /embed block adds one.

Will the countdown keep working after the date passes?

When it reaches zero it shows your end message. If you set the countdown to repeat, it automatically starts counting to the next occurrence.

Is it free?

Yes. count.live is free, needs no account, and countdowns you share or embed never show ads.
