How this Christmas countdown works
The countdown runs to 12:00 a.m. on December 25 wherever you are: someone in London and someone in Los Angeles who open this page each see the time left until their own Christmas morning. It updates every second.
When you copy the link or embed the countdown, it counts down to Christmas morning in your time zone, which is what you want for a classroom or an event in one place. To let friends abroad see their own countdown, send them the address of this page instead.
On Christmas Day the timer shows “Merry Christmas!”. From December 26, this page automatically switches to next year’s Christmas, so you can bookmark it and come back any time.
Ways to use a Christmas countdown
- In the classroom: put the countdown on the board or in your Canva slides. It stays live while you present, so students can watch the days tick down to the holidays.
- For family and friends: send this page’s address to the group chat, and everyone sees the countdown to their own Christmas morning.
- At work: add it to a Notion page or intranet for the office party or the last day before the break.
- On a stream: add it to OBS as a browser source for a holiday stream countdown.
Step-by-step guides: Canva, Notion, OBS, or your own website.
Make your own Christmas countdown
Choose Customize this countdown to open it in the builder. You can count down to Christmas Eve dinner at 6 p.m. instead, rename it (“Christmas at Grandma’s”), pick colors and a font, add a background image, or choose confetti or fireworks for when it hits zero. Your countdown gets its own link, and nothing is stored on our servers: the whole countdown lives in that link.
Links you copy from this page repeat every year. When Christmas arrives they celebrate, then start counting to the next Christmas, so a countdown in this year’s slides still works next December.

Frequently asked questions
How many days until Christmas?
Christmas Day is December 25 — that’s less than three months away. The live countdown at the top of this page shows the exact days, hours, minutes and seconds left in your time zone.
Does the countdown use my time zone?
Yes. It counts down to midnight on December 25 in the time zone your device is set to, so everyone sees the time left until their own Christmas morning.
Can I put this countdown in Google Slides or PowerPoint?
Google Slides and PowerPoint don’t support live web embeds natively. Canva does: paste the countdown link into your Canva design and it stays live while you present. You can also open the countdown full screen in a browser tab.
Is it free?
Yes. count.live is free, needs no account, and the countdowns you share or embed never show ads.
