Why Easter moves every year
Western churches celebrate Easter on the first Sunday after the ecclesiastical full moon on or after March 21, so it can fall anywhere from March 22 to April 25. This page calculates the date for you every year. Orthodox churches use the Julian calendar for the calculation, so Orthodox Easter is often one to five weeks later, and sometimes on the same day.
| Year | Easter Sunday | Orthodox Easter |
|---|---|---|
| 2027 | March 28 | May 2 |
| 2028 | April 16 | April 16 |
| 2029 | April 1 | April 8 |
| 2030 | April 21 | April 28 |
| 2031 | April 13 | April 13 |
Because the date changes, links you copy from this page count down to this year’s Easter. Come back next year for a fresh link; the countdown on this page always shows the next Easter.
